Judge Tynan was raised in south Florida and attended Barry University for his undergraduate degree and Nova Southeastern University – Shephard Broad College of Law graduating in 1987 and becoming a member of the Florida bar in the fall of 1987. Judge Tynan practiced as an associate attorney with some of Broward County’s most legendary litigators at Entin, Margules & Della Fera, P.A. After working several years with that firm Judge Tynan formed a partnership with his law school classmate and study partner, Nola Richardson. Richardson & Tynan, P.L.C. was a successful law firm located in Tamarac, Florida and provided legal services until Judge Tynan’s appointment to the Circuit Court bench.
While at Richardson & Tynan, P.L.C. Judge Tynan practiced: county and local government law; election and campaign law; and professional liability defense. Judge Tynan is considered one of the foremost authorities concerning professional liability and ethics for attorneys handling high profile matters throughout the state of Florida. Judge Tynan maintained an active litigation practice and regularly argued and handled matters before the Florida Supreme Court.
Serving the community is something that Judge Tynan has done throughout the entirety of his distinguished career. In 2011 Judge Tynan was appointed to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, was a member of the South Broward Hospital Board from 2002 to 2010 and previously served on the Broward County School Board.
Judge Tynan was drawn to the bench in order to help others and enhance the standards in the community. As a practicing litigation attorney of over thirty-five years, Judge Tynan understands that being an effective attorney is a very stressful and a tough job; Judge Tynan does not want to add any unnecessary stress to situations or matters that he is handling.
He is a family man, happily married to his wife of several years, and has an adult aged daughter and son. Judge Tynan’s extensive background and experience makes him an excellent addition to the Broward Judiciary and he is currently assigned to civil domestic violence division.
